Tesla (Nasdaq: TSLA) is said to have hired Jeff Dahn, a professor at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia and leading battery researcher, according to Quartz.
The report states that Dahn is charged by Tesla and CEO Elon Musk with doing "whatever it takes" to ramp up battery production in time for the launch of the Model 3 next year.

Dahn told Quartz that his objectives at Tesla include producing batteries that are low cost, have high energy density, and have a long life.
