Tesla (TSLA) Customer in China Frustrated with Company, Smashes Windshield of New Model S

June 30, 2014 7:12 AM EDT

While Tesla (Nasdaq: TSLA) has been lauded around the world, one customer in China hasn't been happy with the company. In fact, the customer was so disgruntled that he immediately smashed the windshield of his brand new Model S upon delivery.

Internet e-commerce entrepreneur, Yu Xinquan, smashed his white Model S with a wrench shortly after acquiring the electric vehicle. On performing the action, Yu said, It’s a protest against the company ... Tesla’s arrogance made me angry.

Yu placed his order last October and was told in early April that his Model S would be delivered within six weeks. However, due to lack of charging stations outside of Beijing and Shanghai, Yu was told his order would be delayed further. Nobody from Tesla told me that when I made the order, he said.

Yu's Model S was further delayed last week when customs agents seized the vehicle due to the record number on the customs declaration statement not matching the VIN of the Model S.

I feel like I just married a woman who has been married before, Yu quipped.
