Tesla Motors (Nasdaq: TSLA) could be leaning a little more toward bolstering sales in China with the Model X SUV.
During Tuesday night's presentation, one of the key features that was highlighted about the Model X was its bioweapon defense mode.
According to the Model X website, the bioweapon defense mode creates positive pressure inside the cabin to protect occupants.
The Model X is also equipped with a medical grade HEPA filter, which strips outside air of pollen, bacteria, viruses and pollution before circulating it into the cabin.
Will the Model X really be able to survive if met with bioweapons? We're not entirely sure. But, given the high pollution rates in Beijing and other parts of China, this feature may be a very appealing one for some potential buyers in the country.
And, really, when is the last time air quality was highlighted as a key feature during a major vehicle launch?
Shares of Tesla are down nearly 1 percent Wednesday.
