Sometimes destiny just writes itself.
While Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) released Windows 8 less than two years ago and tried a series of updates that still didn't sit well with users, the company knew it was time to go back to the drawing board.
But, would moniker would the next operating system take on? Windows 9? Threshold? Windows TH?
No. Today, Microsoft said it is calling its next generation OS Windows 10.
The irony is that at least one tech blog got thing right early last year. InfoWorld published a satirical piece entitled: Microsoft skips 'too good' Windows 9, jumps to Windows 10.
Since we'll never see the light of Windows 9, we'll just assume the author was correct.
Shares of Microsoft are down 0.7 percent.
