Tracking the market since 1999, we've seen many ups and downs and in-betweens. On two occasions over this time frame we've highlighted frantic insider buying.
In November 2008.
and in August 2011.
While not perfect indicators of an exact bottom, they both were very timely (see chart below).
Well guess what?
We are seeing it again.
Since Monday we've highlighted 24 "notable" insider purchases. As a comparison, we highlighted just 4 "notable" insider purchases in the entire last week of July.
Below are some recently disclosed insider buys of note:
- Genworth Financial (NYSE: GNW) President/CEO, Thomas McInerney, disclosed the purchase of 30,000 shares made on 08/24 at $4.50.
- Terex (NYSE: TEX) Director, Scott Wine, bought 25,000 shares on 08/21 at $22.86-$22.88
- Air Products (NYSE: APD) Chairman, President & CEO, Seifi Ghasemi, bought 20,000 shares on 08/24 at $134.71.
- Kapstone (NYSE: KS) CEO and Chairman, Roger Stone, disclosed the purchase of 100,000 shares on 08/24/15 at $20.91.
- SunEdison (NYSE: SUNE) CFO, Brian Wuebbels, disclosed the purchase of 50,000 shares on 08/21 at $11.19
- Applied Materials (NASDAQ: AMAT) CEO, Gary Dickerson, disclosed the purchase of 10,000 shares made on 08/21 at $15.68.
- Boston Scientific (NYSE: BSX) Director Emeritus, John Abele disclosed the purchase of 200,000 shares made on 08/20-08/21 at prices from $16.53-$17.02.
- Fortress Investment Group (NYSE: FIG) Director, Michael Rantz, bought 20,000 shares on 08/20 at $5.87.
- SolarCity (NASDAQ: SCTY) chairman Elon Musk purchased 123,510 shares of the company's stock on 08/24 at $40.49.
- U.S. Steel (NYSE: X) Director, Murry Gerber, bought 7,800 shares on 08/20 at $16.88.
- Annaly Capital Management (NYSE: NLY) Chairman & CEO, Welligton Dehahan, bought 100,000 shares on 08/21 at $10.33.
