Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) watchers noted a new version of Tesla's Model S that is now certified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
According to the website, a Tesla Model S 75D is qualified for White Clean Air Vehicle decals.
Some speculate that it could be an error on California's part given the recent introduction of the Model X with a 75-kWh battery option. Notably, the Model X 75D is certified for White Clean Air Vehicle decals.
It seems unlikely that Tesla would offer such an option as the market largely expects a 100-kWh option sometime soon, which will increase both range and performance. However, Tesla might include a 75-kWh option on its smaller Model 3, but that's purely our speculation.
As of yet, the 75-kWh option doesn't appear in the Model S Design Studio.
Shares of Tesla are down 2.9 percent Tuesday.
