Smucker (SJM) Lauds K-Cup Sales in Q113 Report (GMCR)

According to J.M. Smucker (NYSE: SJM), its first-quarter 2013 U.S. Retail Coffee segment net sales rose 4 percent on the back of stronger Green Mountain K-Cup sales, which were offset by lower prices.

The company also noted that "[n]et sales of Folgers Gourmet Selections and Millstone K-Cups remained strong and increased $30.7 million, compared to the first quarter of 2012. K-Cups represented 6 percentage points of segment net sales growth, while contributing only 1 percentage point growth to volume."

Green Mountain Coffee (Nasdaq: GMCR) shares are flat ahead of the opening bell Friday and closed 3.15 percent higher on Thursday. The company acquired Keurig in 2006.
