Samsung's Galaxy SIII smart phone will have a new feature that should make IT departments happier.

The new phone, which is a rival to the RIM's (Nasdaq: RIMM) Blackberry in the enterprise space and has been called an 'iPhone-Killer' because of its appeal to general consumers, will be branded SAFE, or Samsung Approved for Enterprise.

The SAFE program means Samsung has set up support, quality assurance, and security measures seen as important to business IT departments. The new phone will allow encryption, ActiveSync, and VPN, among other important IT-friendly features.

The move by Samsung is seen as foray into enterprise mobile, a place were Blackberry has traditionally ruled. But with interest in Blackberry flagging, Samsung and its Android operating system might be positioned to deliver a death blow to RIM.
