Rite Aid (RAD), Walgreen (WAG) Gain on Strong June Sales Results

Retail pharmacy giants Walgreen (NYSE: WAG) and Rite Aid (NYSE: RAD) are positive Thursday following June sales results.
Walgreen reported that front-end comparable-store sales rose 1.3 percent last month and overall comps were up 7.5 percent, while total sales increased 8.9 percent to $6.28 billion.
Rite Aid said June front-end comps improved 0.9 percent while total comps rose 3.9 percent. Total sales for the retailer were up 3.5 percent to $1.995 billion.
