RIM (RIMM) Lower as BlackBerry Interruption Reported in Key Market (VOD)
Research In Motion Ltd (Nasdaq: RIMM) is lower in pre-market action after an incident has been reported in one of its key markets.
Earlier today, Vodafone (Nasdaq: VOD) said it was experiencing BlackBerry "connection issues." A spokesperson for Vodafone said the company was looking into the extent and cause of the interruptions.
This is notable for RIM given that it is still relatively popular with the younger crowd in the U.K., where Vodafone operates. Users generally tap BlackBerry for its Messenger service, a cheaper alternative if you send a boatload of text messages.
Shares of RIM are down about 2.5 percent in early trading. The stock is about flat from the close last Friday.
