Pre-Open Movers 5/14: ReneSola (SOL) Higher on Results/Guidance, Deere (DE) Down On Results/Higher Costs

American Science and Engineering (Nasdaq: ASEI) 12% LOWER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.30, 35 cents worse than the analyst estimate of $0.65. Revenues for the quarter were $42.02 million, versus the consensus of $46.36 million.
ReneSola Ltd. (NYSE: SOL) 11% HIGHER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.28, 5 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.23. Revenues for the quarter were $123 million, versus the consensus of $105.87 million. Sees production output during Q2 in the range of 75-80 MW, which compares to 66.5 MW in Q108 and 23 MW in Q107. ReneSola also increased its previously issued FY08 guidance once again: production output goes from 310-320 MW to 330-340 MW and sales go from $530-$550 million to $570-$590 million, versus the consensus of $533.78 million.
American Apparel (AMEX: APP) 11% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.02, versus the analyst estimate of $0.05. Revenues for the quarter were $111.6 million up 52%, versus the consensus of $99.30 million. Re-affirms FY08 forecasts. Sees FY08 EPS 32-36 cents versus 35 cents.
MercadoLibre (Nasdaq: MELI) 11% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.05, 4 cents lower than the analyst estimate of $0.09. Revenues for the quarter were $28.8 million, versus the consensus of $26.7 million.
Whole Foods Market (Nasdaq: WFMI) 9% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.29, which includes a 6c cost from Wild Oats acquisition, 1 cent worse than the analyst estimate of $0.30. Revenues for the quarter were $1.9 billion, versus the consensus of $1.89 billion.
Evergreen Solar Inc. (Nasdaq: ESLR) 7% HIGHER; Jefferies upgrades to Buy
CommVault Systems (Nasdaq: CVLT) 7% HIGHER; reports Q4 non-GAAP EPS of $0.19, 1 cent better than the analyst estimate of $0.18. Revenues for the quarter were $56.6 million, versus the consensus of $54.06 million. Sees FY09 revs of $245 million, versus the consensus of $239.90 million. Sees non-GAAP EPS in the range of $0.70-$0.72, versus $0.70.
Deere & Company (NYSE: DE) 6% LOWER; reports Q2 EPS of $1.74, 1 cent worse than estimates. Worldwide net sales and revenues increased 18% to $8.097 billion vs. consensus of $7.61 billion. Company equipment sales are projected to increase by about 20 percent for both the full year and the third quarter of 2008. Included in the forecast is about 5 percent of currency translation impact for the year and about 4 percent for the quarter. Deere's net income is forecast to be about $2.2 billion for full-year 2008 and in a range of $550 million to $575 million for the third quarter. Escalating raw-material costs and the availability of various parts and components are expected to have an impact on operations for the balance of the year.
Chindex (Nasdaq: CHDX) 6% LOWER; filed a $100 million mixed securities shelf on form S-3 with the SEC. The company may offer common stock, warrants, or subscription rights.
Macy's, Inc. (NYSE: M) 6% HIGHER; reports Q1 loss of $0.02, ex-items, versus the consensus of a $0.02 loss. Revenues came in at $5.75 billion, versus the consensus of $5.63 billion. Reaffirms full year forecast of $1.85-$2.15, versus the consensus of $1.90.
RF Micro Devices (Nasdaq: RFMD) 6% HIGHER; Merrill upgrades to Buy
Jack in the Box Inc. (NYSE: JBX) 5% LOWER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.44, 1 cent better than estimates. Revenues were $693.51 million vs. $684.08 million consensus. Same-store sales at Jack in the Box company restaurants decreased 0.1% in the second quarter compared with a year-ago increase of 6.4%. System same-store sales at Qdoba Mexican Grill increased 2.4% in the second quarter on top of a year-ago increase of 3.5%. Jack in the Box Inc. also today affirmed its full-year earnings guidance of $1.98-2.08 per diluted share. (Consensus is $2.05)
Freddie Mac (NYSE: FRE) 4% HIGHER; reports a Q1 loss of $0.66, versus the consensus of $0.93 loss. Q1 provision for credit losses of $1.2 billion. Freddie Mac sees continued weakness in housing. Doesn't see further decreases in dividend payments. Freddie Mac plans to raise $5.5 billion in new core capital in near future.
Under Armour, Inc. (NYSE: UA) 4% HIGHER; will replace IndyMac Bancorp Inc. (NYSE: IMB) in the S&P MidCap 400 after the close of trading on Thursday, May 15, 2008.
IAC/InterActive (Nasdaq: IACI) 3% HIGHER; Liberty Media (Nasdaq: LINTA) and IAC/InterActive announced that they have resolved their legal dispute regarding IAC's proposed restructuring.
Pacific Ethanol (Nasdaq: PEIX) 3% HIGHER; reports Q1 earnings of $0.06 per share, ex-items, well above the consensus of a $0.09 loss. Revenues came in at $161.5 million, versus the consensus of $154.6 million. The volume of ethanol sold by the company in Q1 rose 58% over last year. Pacific Ethanol delays is 10-Q filing.
Staples, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPLS) 2.6% HIGHER; Jefferies upgrades to Buy
Electronic Arts (Nasdaq: ERTS) 2% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.09, ex-items, 9 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.00. Revenues for the quarter were $919 million, versus the consensus of $834.82 million. EA (Nasdaq: ERTS) sees FY EPS of $1.30-$1.70, versus the consensus of $1.73. Sees FY revs of $4.95-$5.15 billion, versus the consensus of $4.59 billion.
