PC Component Suppliers Report Weak Orders for November, See Light December (HPQ) (DELL)
Orders for PCs may not be a strong as originally expected, potentially adding some downside to fourth-quarter numbers, Digitimes reported.
Digitimes did note, Thursday, that ODM component makers did see strong sales on Black Friday, which helped to clear inventories in retail channels.
But despite the bit of good news, suppliers report that they have not received extra orders from their brand clients, like Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ), Dell (Nasdaq: DELL), Acer, Asustek, or others, as OEMs remain cautious into the holidays.
In preparation for December, the ODMs still expect shipments to remain flat or drop slightly, which may be an improvement from a sharp drop reported in December last year.
