OraSure (Nasdaq: OSUR) could see more upside in the coming months
The company, which manufactures the OraQuick In-Home HIV Test, is getting a little boost from a new government health report which states that half of young people infected with HIV aren't even aware of it.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said 26 percent of all new HIV infections come from an age group spanning 13 to 24 years old. Data also points out that 1,000 young people become infected per month and the disease costs $400,000 or so to treat over a lifetime.
The CDC also noted that only 13 percent of high school students have ever been tested for HIV.
On the news today (which was released late Tuesday), shares of OraSure are about 1.7 percent higher.
