Operational Activist Investor Nelson Peltz Builds A Stake In Hansen Natural (HANS)

August 14, 2008 3:36 PM EDT

The investment arm controlled by activist investor Nelson Peltz has built a stake of 1.29 million shares in Hansen Natural (Nasdaq: HANS). Nelson Peltz has successful with other popular drink companies, such as Snapple. Peltz is an operations guy that looks for efficiencies, marketing strategies and tactics in order to achieve solid cash flows.

Investors are ostensibly very excited that Peltz is involved with Hansen Natural and have driven the stock up over 10% on the news of his investment. Another plus for Hansen Natural is Steve Mandel's Lone Pine Capital recently disclosed a 7.8% (7.23M shares) stake in the company. It is highly likely that Mandel and Peltz see much of the same potential with this company and I'd say HANS is definitely a company to pay attention to over the next 12 months.

Hansen Natural Corporation, through its subsidiaries, engages in the development, marketing, sale, and distribution of beverages in the United States and Canada.
