Noted Tech Journalists Launch New Venture (CMCSA)

As the WSJ'c AllThingsD (ATD) comes to a close, there will be two new tech sites for users interested in the segment to peruse.

ATD's Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher moved to create Re/code and a new series of Code Conferences which will be akin to the old D conferences held by ATD. Joining Mossberg and Swisher will largely be ATD's staff, including Arik Hesseldahl, Peter Kafka, and John Paczkowski, among others.

Mossberg and Swisher partnered with Comcast's (Nasdaq: CMCSA) NBCUniversal and Windsor Media on the venture, which was announced in 2013. Monetary details weren't disclosed, though the effort is said to be valued at $10 to $15 million. Notably, Swisher commented that the venture will be well funded, and it gives us the opportunity to add people, features, products, or conferences.

For News Corp. (Nasdaq: NWSA)-owned WSJ, the site now has a section called WSJ.D which will aim to fill the gap left by ATD. The WSJ appears to be keeping its Digits section for light tech updates, it seems, though the news site might just focus on WSJ.D moving forward.
