New York Times (NYT) Said to Launch Paywall-Free Site in China

The New York Times Co. (NYSE: NYT) shares are higher into the close following reports it will be launching a Chinese-language news site in China Thursday.
The company will also debut a blogging account with Sina' (Nasdaq: SINA) Weibo, according to reports. Currently, the Weibo account has over 10,000 followers, says TechCrunch.
Though the site is beta, the NY Times issued a statement saying, "The site will grow in scope and functionality over the course of the next several months."
There will initially be no paywall on the site.
Shares ended 8 percent better Wednesday.
