According to comScore data out Friday, for anyone who owns a smartphone, there's a 25 percent chance they also use a tablet.

As that statement can be a little confusing, assume the tablet is owned by the person being surveyed.

For the three months ended in April 2012, comScore said 23.6 percent of smartphone-only users in the U.S. also used a tablet. That's up from 9.7 percent in the same period last year. As for a total of feature phone and smartphone users also tapping on a tablet, that number averages out to 16.5 percent, up 11.8 points.

Female's use tablets more, holding a 50.8 percent share in the U.S., while males grab at 51.6 percent of the smartphone market.

The hot age groups are 25 - 34 and 35 - 44, accounting for 45.8 percent of tablet usage and 46.5 percent of smartphone ownership.

It also pays to be wealthy: 37.7 percent of tablet users and 33.4 percent of smartphone owners have a household income above $100,000.

In terms of watching video on a mobile device, 53 percent of tablet users said they watch some sort of streaming video at least once a month, while 20 percent of smartphone owners admit to doing the same. Those watching video one to three times per month make up 24.6 percent of tablet users and 10.3 percent of the smartphone market. The numbers move down from there, with tablet owners clearly outpacing smartphone owners in video viewing in any given 30-day span.

The news is good for Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL), which launched the "modernized" tablet two-years ago. Others to benefit include companies like Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT), Dell (Nasdaq: DELL), H-P (NYSE: HPQ) and Samsung, among others.

For video, the clear stock to watch is Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX).

Various component suppliers like AU Optronics (NYSE: AUO), LG Display (NYSE: LPL), TI (NYSE: TXN), and Advanced Micro (NYSE: AMD), will also play key roles moving forward as tablet adaption continues.
