Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) Windows 10 platform is expected to benefit the ailing notebook market, according to sources cited by Digitimes.
Many vendors believe that the new operating system, which is expected for release at the end of this month, will boost notebook sales as many consumers have delayed purchases in anticipation of the new platform. (Notably, Microsoft is offering a free upgrade to Windows 10 for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users over the next year or so.)
Additionally, vendors cite recently currency fluctuations for increased inventory levels in Europe.
Windows 10-based two-in-ones and tablet sales are expected to outpace similar Android-based models during the second-half of 2015.
Shares of Microsoft are positive in early trading Tuesday.
