Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) shares are lower in late trading amid entering intellectual property licensing deals with two new licensees.

According to separate releases earlier, the software giant hammered out deals with Aluratek, Inc., and Coby Electronics. The licenses cover patents for devices that run Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android and Chrome platforms.

Details of the deals were not disclosed, but Microsoft will receive royalties from both.

Earlier in the session, Microsoft announced the acquisition of Perceptive Pixel Inc., which is "a leader in research, development and production of large-scale, multi-touch display solutions."

Microsoft ended the session about 0.6 percent lower.
