Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) posted the following to its official Blog on Thursday:
Microsoft will end support of the RC4 stream cipher in Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer on April 12, as part of a security measure. Widely supported across browsers and online services for years, RC4 has become vulnerable to attacks and is now considered to be no longer cryptographically secure, writes Brent Mills, Microsoft senior program manager with Windows Experience.
The end-of-support will bring the browsers in line with industry standards. Most users will not notice the change, but if your Web service relies on RC4, Microsoft recommends that customers enable TLS 1.2 (Transport Layer Security) and remove support for RC4.
