Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) shares are under watch following the unveiling of BlackBerry's (Nasdaq: BBRY)(Nasdaq: RIMM) BlackBerry 10 operating system and devices.
The two trail Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) and Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) for mobile device market share. Microsoft's Windows Phone OS has just a fraction of overall share while BlackBerry has seen its market share erode since about 2008.
Whether or not BB10 will be enough to sway a near-term changeover is a good question; Microsoft's OS has been lauded on several occasions with little to show since debuting in late 2011.
BlackBerry shares are down over 5 percent as investors sell the news today, while Microsoft is about flat.
