Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) and BlackBerry (Nasdaq: BBRY) are making a stronger move to partner with companies in order to promote their respective software platforms as both struggle to make headway in the highly-competitive hardware segment.
BlackBerry, as announced earlier today, is showing off its SecuTABLET at CeBIT 2015. The SecuTABLET is based on Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.5 tablet and is loaded with security solutions from BlackBerry's Secusmart and IBM.
Digitimes also noted that Microsoft recently entered an agreement with China's Xiaomi Technology, which will allow users of the Xiaomi 4 to download Microsoft's Windows 10 platform, which will basically switch the devices over from Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android operating system.
Microsoft may look to make similar arrangements with other device makers, both in the low- and higher-end smartphone segments.
