If you can say one thing about Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) Bing search engine, it's definitely making a bigger impact in overall market share.
(Having to Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) the results of this piece, we almost feel dirty saying that.)
Data from comScore released late Wednesday had Bing gaining 0.2 points of U.S. explicit core search gains to a total share of 15.6 percent. That is the largest piece of the pie Microsoft has had since Bing emerged from the shadows a few years ago.
However, the overall U.S. search market looks to be shrinking, down 2 percent in the three-months ended June. That's according to the comScore U.S. Explicit Core Search Query Report.
Of course, this is coming from a segment of Microsoft that is perpetually losing cash. You can see that here under "Online Services Division."
Shares are indicated lower Thursday.
