McDonald's (NYSE: MCD) is on watch following reports that several of its locations have been temporarily closed in Russia.
News out Friday has 12 McDonald's locations in Russia closed following an unscheduled mass inspection by the country's food safety regulator, Rospotrebnadzor.
Three locations were closed in Moscow, one in Stavropol, and one in Yekaterinburg, among other locations.
Russia currently has 433 McDonald's locations.
News comes as tensions between Russia and Ukraine continue to mount. Earlier this year, McDonald's closed three locations in Crimea following Russia's move to annex the region.
It wasn't made immediately clear when, if at all, the restaurants will reopen or what procedures have to be completed in order for the locations to restart operations.
Notably, McDonald's was a key sponsor of the 2014 Winter Olympics held in Sochi.
Shares of McDonald's are flat in early trading.
