Zynga (Nasdaq: ZNGA) is lower today amid reports that it lost a good chunk of subs through 2012.
According to AppStats, Zynga lost about 19.1 million daily active users (DAUs) over seven games.
First, Zyngas Farmville 2 was the biggest release of the year, with 8.4 million DAUs since its release. Runner-upcame from U.K. competitor King.com with its Candy Crush Saga taking on 7.3 million DAUs.
Zynga had four games in the top 10 ranked by AppStats while King.com had three.
But, Zynga took the top seven of 10 spots in the losers category, with FarmVille, CityVille, and CastleVille all seeing the largest drop in DAUs.
Given that the largest drops have come from games with sequels (mainly, the '-Vile' series), Zynga appears to be challenging itself mostly.
Shares are down 1.6 percent Thursday.
