LG's G Watch Makes Potential 'iWatch' Just That Much More Appealing (AAPL) (GOOG)

April 9, 2014 7:02 AM EDT

If you've ever wanted to strap a monolith to your wrist, fret no more: LG has you covered.

LG is planning to launch its Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android Wear-equipped G Watch smartwatch before July, according to Pocket-lint. Pricing will be less than the £180 it goes for in the U.K.

Photos of the device that were recently release are just a prototype. But, it's a little disconcerting. The device looks cold and void and contains no buttons whatsoever. The photo below pairs it with Samsung's Galaxy Gear 2 smartwatch.

This is good news for Samsung and Apple (which the market believes will release a smartwatch sometime in 2014) and bad news for Google. The low price point versus the Gear 2 is attractive, but the rest of the device isn't, functionality aside. But, that's just out opinion. You can have a better look at Pocket-lint.
