Cheniere Energy (Nasdaq: LNG) might be having a bit of a false start today following some Reuters headlines.
According to the news source, Japan might be in talks to buy liquefied natural gas (LNG) from U.S. export projects. Reuters identified unnamd sources on the report.
The move as Japan searches for more sources of energy following the shutdown of several nuclear reactors in the wake of the 2011 tsunami.
Talks might be taking place with Sempra Energy's (NYSE: SRE) Cameron LNG project in Louisiana, Dominion Resources' (NYSE: D) Cove Point project in Maryland and Freeport LNG in Texas. Exports from Freeport could begin as early as 2015, with Dominion and Sempra starting shortly after.
On the news, Cheniere is up 7.3 percent, while Dominion is just 0.2 percent better and Sempra is down 0.3 percent.
