Disney (NYSE: DIS) was reported to have secured a U.S. patent for a gaming console focused on 3D augmented reality.
According to CNET this afternoon, Disney's console may be able to take a real picture (such as a toothbrush) and animate it. This might also suggest that it would be a handheld device.
Recent rumors tied Disney to a new game called "Toy Box," which involved interactivity of Pixar and Disney characters.
CNET also alludes to a tie-up with Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) for the hardware design. Given that Diney CEO Bob Iger is on Apple's Board, the idea might not be too far fetched.
