Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) Still #1 in Worldwide PC Shipments, But Dell (DELL) Takes #2 Spot - iSuppli
According to iSuppli, Dell (Nasdaq: DELL) has retaken the second position in global PC shipments, just behind Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ), and ahead of Acer.
Dell's Q2 shipments of 10.54 million units was down 1.7% from 10.7 million for the first quarter, but up 16.7% year-over-year.
H-P had shipments of 14.96 million for the quarter, down 6.3% from Q1, but up 11.4% from 13.42 million units shipped in Q209.
Acer shipped 10.19 million units in Q210, down 6.3% Q/Q, and up 24.2% from Q209.
The biggest year-over-year shipment increase came from Lenovo, who saw a 47.5% surge from Q209 shipments of 5.65 million units to 8.33 million in Q210.
In terms of overall market share, H-P actually dropped from 19.6% in Q110 to $18.1% for Q210. Dell also dropped 0.3 points from 13.1% to 12.8% in Q2. Lenovo was the only top-five to deliver sequential market share growth, jumping 1.5 points from 8.6% to 10.1% in Q2.
iSuppli sees overall PC shipment growth of 15% for FY10.
Notably, last quarter was the 16th consecutive quarter in which H-P was the number one PC brand in the world.
