MENLO PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

What disease takes the lives of more Americans and is the number one cause of death -- more so than cancer, lung disease, and diabetes combined? Heart disease. To address the issue, Deeelish! Meals Made Easy will identify all its entrees that follow the American Heart Associations heart-healthy nutrition guidelines.

A heart healthy meal is one that is low in calories and saturated fat. Deeelish! Meals Made Easy entrees meet the heart healthy criteria if they contain fewer than 10 grams of fat and less than 30% calories from fat per serving. On a monthly basis, approximately one-third of its chef-created entrees meets or exceeds these guidelines for a heart-healthy diet.

Starting this month, entrees that meet the guidelines that are available from the American Heart Association will be clearly identified online with a heart logo next to the meal. May's heart-healthy entrees include: Chicken Street Kebabs with Tahini Sauce, Open Faced Grilled Chicken Sandwiches, Deeelish! Lettuce Wraps, Thit Bo Kho (Vietnamese Beef Stew), Steinbeck Artichoke Tequila Chicken, and Halibut con Tomatillo Recado.

Additionally, for each order placed that includes at least one heart-healthy entree, Deeelish! will include a red heart-shaped pedometer and tips from the American Heart Association on living heart-smart.

Deeelish! will also provide the red heart pedometers to its employees and to guests to wear during In-Store sessions, so they may monitor their activity level and increase their awareness of the correlation between exercise and the reduced risk of heart disease.

Health professionals agree that a total of 10,000 or more steps per day is a great way to increase heart health.

These efforts are in support of the American Heart Association's campaign to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease and efforts to reduce risk through diet, exercise and medical checkups.

"We're very pleased to do our part by increasing awareness of the serious problem of heart disease in women and men by offering our guests delicious, chef-created entrees that follow heart healthy guidelines," said Jeff and Jami Stevens, co-founders Deeelish! Meals Made Easy.
