GoPro, Inc. (Nasdaq: GPRO) could head higher Friday following a positive NY Post mention.
According to the Post, GoPro's tie-ins with sports is keeping the company fired up and investors happy. The article cites an effort by 360fly to sign motocross rider Chad Reed to an endorsement deal, but MX Sports -- which promotes U.S. motocross races -- forbids riders to wear any cameras other than GoPro.
The sponsorship deal between MX Sports and GoPro runs through 2016.
While 360fly is planning to canvass motocross riders and team owners to get the agreement changed before the beginning of next year, GoPro has started to sign endorsement deals with top sports segments, such as the NHL.
Of course, contracts with other sports leagues and sponsors might not be as stringent as the one with MX Sports, though many might suspect that GoPro would probably opt-in for some sort of exclusivity under an agreement.
Shares of GoPro are negative Friday morning following a slight dip lower Thursday.
