Globalfoundries, Samsung to Split Lion's Share of Apple (AAPL) A9 Chip Production

Production of the majority of Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) A9 chip will be split between two notable names: Globalfoundries and Samsung.
According to Digitimes, Samsung and Globalfoundries have won production on 70 percent of A9 chips with their 14-nanometer FinFET technology.
Samsung will be able to produce 30,000 to 40,000 12-inch wafers each month to meet demand for both Apple and its own handset unit. The company will also produce its 14-nm process Exymos processor.
Globalfoundries will have capacity for 20,000 to 30,000 12-inch wafers monthly.
Taiwan Semi (NYSE: TSM) will assume production on the remaining 30 percent of A9 chips.
