Germany's crushing 7 - 1 defeat of Brazil in the World Cup quarterfinal was the most-Tweeted sports game ever.
According to the latest data from Twitter (NYSE: TWTR), about 35.6 million posts on Tuesday were related to the Germany v. Brazil match.
Sami Khedira's goal during the 29th minute of the match also set off a new posting record of 580,166 per minute. Yes, that's nearly 9,700 global posts to Twitter per second of just one sporting event.
By comparison, the peak during Super Bowl XLVIII was 382,000 posts per minute.
Shares of Twitter are up 1.6 percent Wednesday.
