Cramer Calls Foster Wheeler (FWLT) Best Way to Play Cleaner Coal

June 20, 2008 8:17 AM EDT

On last night's Mad Money, Jim Cramer called a stock he owns for his charitable trust, Action Alerts PLUS, Foster Wheeler (Nasdaq: FWLT), "the best play on cleaner coal technology..." Foster Wheeler has been one of Cramer's favorite stocks for quite some time, and with both presidential candidates touting "clean coal" as the answer to the U.S.'s energy problems, Cramer seems to like the stock more than ever.

As Cramer believes 100% clean coal remains 3-10 years away, he says the smarter way to clean up coal right now is through the use of technologies such as scrubbers and boilers, which reduce the amount of sulfur, mercury and nitrogen in coal. Jim points out that Foster Wheeler is a leader in fludization techniques as its boilers can remove about 95% of the sulfur in coal.

Cramer next mentions Foster Wheeler's exposure to the liquefied natural gas market. Cramer said he expects this business to grow from $8.7 billion to $25.4 billion by 2011. With its leading technologies and exposure to key markets, Foster Wheeler has positioned itself to be a leader in the rapidly growing energy sector, according to Cramer, where he expects demand to grow by 40% between 2005 and 2030.

Foster Wheeler, Ltd. and its subsidiaries provide construction and engineering services to the oil and gas, oil refining, chemical/petrochemical, pharmaceutical, environmental, power generation, and power plant operation and maintenance sectors worldwide.

Cramer is biased look at CCTC

Cramer is long this stock. he has no business hyping it. Not only that, he really isn't very knowledgeable regarding clean coal technologies. There is a releativey undiscovered gem trading under the symbol CCTC that bears a look from investros.
