Comcast (CMCSA), IMAX (IMAX) on Watch Following Strong Opening Weekend for 'Jurassic World'

Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA) is on watch Monday following a blockbuster weekend for its Universal Pictures subsidiary at the box office.

Reports out late Sunday have Universal's Jurassic World earning over $500 million at theaters worldwide and around $205 million at U.S. theaters during its opening weekend. That's the second-best opening weekend in the U.S. since The Avengers in 2012 (at $207.4 million).

China kicked in over $100 million to the movie's total.

Notably, about half of the revenue for Jurassic World came from 3-D ticket sales. IMAX (NYSE: IMAX) should also be active Monday following he news with reports of ticket sales topping $44 million globally for the film.
