Chipotle (CMG) Plans Marketing, PR Blitz Following Wrap-up of CDC Probe

January 14, 2016 7:42 AM EST

If you thought Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE: CMG) was going away following recent E. coli issues and subsequent litigation, you're dead wrong.

According to the NY Post, Chipotle is planning a media "blitz" starting in February, which it expected the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to wrap up its investigation into the company.

Chipotle is planning to address the issue and tell customers its side of the story through direct mail and traditional advertising.

Along with E. coli issues, Chipotle is under criminal investigation related to a norovirus outbreak at one of its restaurants in Simi Valley, Calif. That outbreak was said to make roughly 200 customers sick.

Shares of Chipotle are flat early Thursday following a 6 percent gain on yesterday's session.
