Barney Frank Still Suggests Banks Pay Back TARP If They Can
In a CNBC interview, Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee Barney Frank said despite comments from the Obama administration that banks should hold on the the TARP money, banks should pay the funds back if they feel they can. Frank said it will show confidence and replenish funds to the Treasury.
Large banks that have indicated they wish to pay back their TARP money are (in order of likelihood): Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS), JP Morgan (NYSE: JPM), Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS), Bank of America (NYSE: BAC).
