BP CEO Comments Suggest 80,000 Barrels Of Oil Could Be Gushing From Gulf Well Per Day
Comments from BP (NYSE: BP) CEO Tony Hayward suggests that 80,000 barrels of oil per day, or more, could be coming from the BP Gulf well.
In testimony today Hayward said they will look to contain as much as 60,000 and 80,000 barrels by the end of their containment effort. He said the only way to end the flow is the relief wells, which will be done in August.
Recent estimates from U.S. scientists said 35,000-60,000 barrels of oil per day could be coming from the well. Prior estimates had 20,000 to 40,000 barrels leaking per day.
