Apple (AAPL) Mulls Bringing Mac Mini Production to U.S.

About a month ago, Apple, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) CEO Tim Cook said some manufacturing operations would come stateside in the future, though specific details weren't given at the time.

Digitimes has reported today that Apple might be moving some production of the Mac mini to the U.S. with Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry).

Foxconn is said to have about 15 facilities in the U.S. and will begin recruiting workers in 2013 for automated production lines, according to Digitimes.

Estimates have Mac mini shipments growing 40 percent in 2012 to 1.4 million units. Growth in 2013 should slow to 30 percent, or 1.8 million units.

Apple shares are indicated lower Thursday morning.
