Apple (AAPL) Higher as Mountain Lion has Best OS X Launch Ever, iPhone 5 Event Speculated

July 30, 2012 8:55 AM EDT
Shares of Apple, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL), are trading higher Monday morning, following solid news out of the media and tech giant earlier.

The Company said OS X Mountain Lion sales topped three million in just the first four days of its release. By comparison, AppleInsider says sales of OS X 10.7 Lion sales topped one million on its first day of availability (in July 2011), with the six million mark being hit in October. This makes Mountain Lion the most successful OS X launch in Apple's history.

In addition, headlines have Apple holding an event on September 12th, which presumably will be for the debut of the next-generation iPhone. Generally, Apple makes its products available just days to a few weeks after announcement, which indicates sales should begin in late-September to early October.

Apple is up about 1 percent early.
