Is an iPad update possible at Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) September 12th event? And so soon after releasing the New iPad last Spring?
Maybe, but probably not for the reason you think.
According to reports out Monday, Apple is planning on a new, smaller dock connector and will refresh products to accommodate the new device. This means that in addition to an expected unveiling of its next iPhone in September, Apple might update the iPod nano, iPod touch, and iPads in both 9.7-inch and "mini" sizes.
Reports from iMore said there will be a dock adapter to fit legacy items.
Typically, Apple sticks to a once-a-year schedule for product updates, though the last major iPod update was about 23-months ago and Apple took 16 months between the iPhone and iPhone 4S launches.
Either way, investors are biting in again Monday, sending Apple shares up over 1.4 percent.
