Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is doing well Monday amid blockbuster iPad pre-order sales reported following the launch of its latest tablet.
In addition, new data is emerging today about the rumored smaller version of its iPad. The tiny-Pad should measure about 7.85-inches diagonal, reports have said. In keeping with maximizing the user experience, Apple is also said to be working on a smaller-bezel to enhance the viewing are of the new device.
According to Digitimes, Apple may not include its Retina Display technology with the new iPad, but the 7.85-inch model is likely to use "IPS/FFS panels from LG Display (NYSE: LPL) and probably AU Optronics (NYSE: AUO)."
Pricing on the devices will be sub-$300, with Digitimes offering a price range of $249 to $299 for the device. Pricing in that range would make the mini-Pad a stronger competitor to Amazon's (Nasdaq: AMZN) Kindle Fire as well as Barnes & Noble's (NYSE: BKS) NOOK Color.
Shares of Apple are up about 1 percent in afternoon trading.
