Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) suppliers are planning for a massive launch of the iPhone 6/6+.
According to Digitimes, component suppliers are expecting to produce up to 80 million units of the iPhone 6/6+ before the end of 2014.
Apple's plan to ship 80 million units of the latest iPhone compares with shipments of 60 million units for the iPhone 5c/5s.
About 10 million iPhone 6/6+ units should ship in September with 60 to 70 million units throughout the rest of the calendar Q4 reporting period.
One item that might not have been taken into consideration is a potential delay with the iPhone 6/6+ launch in China, which was just reported earlier this morning. That could hamper sales by a couple million units.
Shares of Apple are lower Thursday.
