While Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) had strong iPhone sales in calendar Q115, suppliers see the momentum continuing through the current quarter.
Digitimes cites Taiwan-based suppliers in saying that expectations call for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus shipments of over 60 million units in CQ215. That's up from previous estimates calling for shipments of 50 million units.
According to Apple's FQ215 report on Monday night, the company sold 61.2 million iPhones, which compared with the consensus estimate of 54.9 million. The company also noted exceptional strength in China, though Digitimes didn't break down where it expected robust iPhone 6/6+ shipments.
Also of note, some speculate that Apple may push back the release of the next-generation iPhone if sales momentum continues for the iPhone 6/6+.
Shares of Apple are positive in early trading Tuesday.
