Apple (AAPL) Partner in China Begins Taking Pre-Orders of iPhone 6

September 3, 2014 7:40 AM EDT

Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is on watch Wednesday following reports that one of its major partners in China is already taking orders for its yet-undisclosed, next-generation iPhone.

China Daily said China Mobile (NYSE: CHL) is accepting pre-orders for Apple's iPhone 6.

The online reservation system also indicated that there would be larger 4.7- and 5.5-inch display sizes with the iPhone 6. Those compare with a 4-inch display on the iPhone 5s/5c.

China Mobile only offered the pre-orders in Beijing. Over 30,000 were said to have been placed as of Tuesday evening.

Notably, fewer customers are moving to book iPhone reservations with unofficial dealers given that Apple has stepped up the availability of the devices following launch.

Apple is expected to hold an event on September 9th to debut the next iPhone lineup. Shares are positive in early trading.
