Gogo (Nasdaq: GOGO) and ViaSat (Nasdaq: VSAT) are trading mixed Thursday amid news that American Airlines (Nasdaq: AAL) will install faster WiFi on 500 additional aircraft, according to Bloomberg. American is adding to an earlier order with ViaSat to do so, snubbing Gogo in the process.
ViaSat received an order to install WiFi on 100 new Boeing 737 MAX planes for American last summer, while Gogo was tapped to install 2K11 satellite service on 130 Airbus A319s and A320s.
Installations for both will begin next year.
