Amazon (AMZN) to Launch Junglee in India
Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) has announced the launch of Junglee, an online shopping service website in India.
The Indian government does not currently allow foreign companies the right to conduct business within the country if the company sells multiple brands. Junglee is a way to avoid this law as it doesn’t sell products directly; the online site directs shoppers to sites where the product may be purchased.
Amazon is hoping Junglee will give them more insight on the Indian online shopping market, expected to triple by 2015, according to a Bloomberg piece Thursday.
