Alibaba (NYSE: BABA) founder Jack Ma spoke recently following a lawsuit filed against the company over sales of counterfeit goods.
Last Friday, Kering filed a suit against Alibaba for allowing the sale of goods that infringe on its trademarks, including Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent.
Speaking at a new conference in South Korea on Tuesday, Ma also said that the company was in talks with Apple (Naadaq: AAPL) over cooperation in payment systems and potentially other areas. Ma said, At present, we are in the first step in cooperating and negotiating with Apple for payment systems ... We also hope both sides could exhibit the willingness to conduct cooperation in more spheres than payment systems.
Apple CEO Tim Cook also acknowledged the talks last week. Apple is also in discussion with Chinese banks about bringing its wireless payment system to China.
Shares of Alibaba are positive early Tuesday.
