Volatility is up 5 percent from Tuesday's close and 139 percent over its trailing annual average.
Shares are up 4.9 percent higher in early trade.
Of note, Alcatel tried several times in the last several sessions to hold below the $1.45 - $1.50 support level with little luck. It's 50-day SMA is currently situated at $1.58 per share.
