Airlines are in focus Thursday as a winter storm makes its way across the Midwestern U.S. and to the East Coast, cancelling plenty of flights along the way.

The storm is expected to drop about 2-inches-per-hour of snow in locations like New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire, notes CNBC this morning.

According to data from FlightAware.com, roughly 399 U.S. flights were cancelled for Thursday to accommodate the storm. Leading the effort was Republic Airways (Nasdaq: RJET) with 62 cancellations. Also making the list were Southwest (NYSE: LUV) at 18 and United (NYSE: UAL) at 12 cancellations.
